Three homes have been evacuated and two motorists have been rescued after heavy rain caused flooding in parts of south Auckland.
The Fire Service said in the suburb of Papakura two motorists became stuck in floodwaters and had to be pulled out.
It said two homes in the area had been flooded and the heavy rain caused another house's ceiling to collapse.
Meanwhile, power has been restored to a group of Auckland residents after supplies were cut during an electrical storm this afternoon.
The lines company Vector said lightning hit a power pole and cut power to about 50 residents in Mt Eden.
