Investors, not migrants at fault for Akld housing

The head of an organisation that helps settle immigrants and refugees in New Zealand says they are not to blame for Auckland's housing bubble.

An Auckland Funds manager has called for the Government to reduce immigration growth to rein in the city's soaring housing market.

The Chairperson of Migrant Action Trust, Camille Nakhid, said immigrants were trying to buy homes like everybody else, and it was investors that were the problem.

She said there was a misunderstanding about what was behind the increase in house prices and it was simplistic to blame a visible group like immigrants.
