Several people have been decontaminated after a suspicious package was found at the Rotorua Lakes Council.
Fire fighters and a decontamination unit was sent to the council building just after 9am today and part of the building was evacuated.
Police said an envelope containing a white powder came into contact with seven people.
Police now have the envelope to determine what the substance is.
