Residents in North Canterbury's Waimakariri District will receive a 14 percent increase on their rates over the next four years.

The Waimakariri District Council concluded deliberations on its long-term plan this week.
Residents will see an average rates increase of 4.4 percent next year, 5.6 percent in 2017, and 4 percent in 2018.
The plan also outlines more than $20 million for an indoor sports court facility to be built in 2020, and $2 million for a car-park in central Rangiora.
