Two deer hunters missing in the Kaimai Ranges since yesterday have made their own way out.
The men, aged 20 and 44, entered the bush from Whakamarama Rd about 4am yesterday and were due to return at 9am that day.
A search was launched last night.
Police said the men made their way out to State Highway 29, where they were able to use a mobile phone to contact family at about 11am today.
They were picked up by family members and were tired and cold but otherwise fine.
Police said during the search that the men were not experienced hunters and had limited knowledge of the area.
They were understood to be equipped only with the clothing they were wearing along with a firearm and torch, and had no food or supplies with them.
The hunters had made a call to family at 11am yesterday to say they were lost.
