A five-year-old boy who was seriously injured in a two-vehicle crash southeast of Levin has died.
The crash happened about 7pm on Friday, on the corner of State Highway 57 and Tararua Road.
Kaide Preston from Levin was airlifted to hospital in a critical condition but died in Starship Hospital last night.
The child's death brings the road toll for the Queen's Birthday weekend to five.
The police and the Serious Crash Unit are still investigating the crash.
