Police are investigating after a man was shot in the leg in the Lower Hutt suburb of Taita this morning.
Police and the Armed Offenders Squad were called to a home in Taita just after 6am.
The 46-year-old resident who was shot is in hospital and police say his injuries are not life-threatening.
Senior Sergeant Glenn Barnett said police were examining the scene and speaking with five people who were at the house at the time.
They were still looking for the person responsible but said they did not believe there was a risk to the community.
