25 students and four teachers from St Margaret's College were helping to build a school outside the capital, Kathmandu, when the 7.8 quake struck on 25 April.

Hundreds of people yesterday attended a fair held by the college with the help of the Farmy Army and the police.

Senior Sergeant Roy Appley said the cause was close to the students' hearts.

He said the money raised will be sent to Nepal in the coming weeks, together with 70 tarpaulins collected at the event.
