Convicted cyclist says he was not at fault

A cyclist convicted for impeding traffic on a narrow stretch of road on Christchurch's Port Hills insists he was not at fault.

Alex Mann was fined $150 at the Christchurch District Court, but he said the van driver behind him had ample opportunity to overtake on Dyers Pass Road, but then passed him on a blind corner.

Mann said a policeman on a motorcycle pulled him over and told him he needed to ride to the left and let cars pass.

He said it was physically impossible for him to move over any further but the court found he had two opportunities to pull over.
