William John Murphy, 38, had denied 17 charges involving theft and dishonesty, and represented himself during his trial at the Auckland District Court.

The jury reached unanimous guilty verdicts on 15 charges this afternoon after a day and a half of deliberating.

The Crown said Murphy forced his way into people's homes and tied them up before robbing them.

The defence said the Crown's case was circumstantial, and the person pictured in the photographic evidence could be someone else or more than one person.

Murphy has been remanded in custody to reappear for sentencing on 30 July.
