Police in Christchurch are investigating the unexplained death of a woman whose body was found in a motel room yesterday.
Emergency services were called to the Terra Vive Motel on Bealey Avenue shortly before midday.
The police said the woman was in her 30s.
Detective Senior Sergeant David Harvey said the death had been referred to the coroner and a post-mortem would take place today to try to determine the cause of death.
He said officers were also doing a scene examination, which should finish later today.
