A man has made persistent attempts to kidnap a 13-year-old girl in west Auckland.
The police said the girl was walking Glendale Road at about 3.30pm this afternoon when a man in a silver car pulled over and told her to get in his car.
They said a struggle ensued, and she was slapped in the face.
He followed her when she ran to a relative's empty house then on towards Fruitvale Primary School.
The police were called, and checked the area, but could not find the man, who was described as a skinny Maori or Pacific Islander in his 30s with short black hair.
The girl suffered scratches to her face and arm and a sore neck.
