Police have named the truck driver who died as a result of a multiple vehicle crash on State Highway 57 near the township of Shannon yesterday.
He was 56-year-old Shannon man Grant Andrew Jackson.
The crash - which involved a truck and vehicle heading south and a north-bound truck driven by Mr Jackson - happened about 4.45pm and also left five other people injured.
Mr Jackson died soon after the crash, while the other five injured people remain in Palmerston North hospital.
The road was closed after the crash and for much of today while investigators were at the scene but had reopened.
