Defamation claims against Tasman's District Commander Karyn Malthus have been dropped, the police says.

Inspector John Canning and two senior sergeants claimed Ms Malthus made defamatory comments about them to the media.
Ms Malthus strongly denied the claims.
A police spokesperson said the police contacted the lawyer for the three officers last week and told him the claims were misconceived.
The defamation claim had since been dropped.
