A pedestrian has been airlifted to Waikato Hospital after being hit by a car on a Morrinsville footpath.
Police said the car collided with the man, who is in his 20s, as well as a speed limit sign just before 12pm today.
They said he was in a serious or critical condition.
Police are talking to the 19-year-old driver of the car.
Traffic diversions are in place at three intersections off State Highway 26, and the Serious Crash Unit is at the scene.
