The High Court in Wellington has approved the imposition of an Extended Supervision Order on a man convicted of sexual offending against young boys.

Kelvin Lange is due for release after being jailed for two years on three charges of performing an indecent act on a child under 12.

The Crown sought the extended order and Lange did not oppose it.

Justice MacKenzie said he had received a letter in which Lange spoke of the order as a positive move which will enable him to keep receiving the help he needs to continue his rehabilitation when his jail term is completed.

The Extended Supervision Order, which will run for 10 years, prohibits Lange from contact with children under 16, and includes conditions relating to where he can live and work.
