A house has caught fire while being transported on the back of a truck south of Kaiapoi.
The Fire Service said it suspected the house got caught up in an overhead powerline while being moved down Main North Road last night.
Southern communications shift manager Andrew Norris said they received the unusual call at about 10:30pm.
"Due to the condition of the fire, we responded a couple of tankers to assist them, plus more fire engines from Woodend and the Brooklands station.
"It took about an hour to get the fire under control and extinguished, however the road was closed for a couple of hours," said Mr Norris.
There were no injuries, and the Fire Service was not investigating.
What was left of the building was moved to a nearby industrial site.
