A motorbike rider who is thought to have been riding in a group of five bikes is dead after two of them collided.
It happened on Makomako road near Kawhia in coastal Waikato just before 3pm.
The rider died at the scene and another has moderate injuries.
The Serious Crash Unit is investigating.
In a separate incident in Auckland, a woman has died in hospital after a motorbike crashed in Henderson just before 1pm.
Police said the 52-year-old woman was a pillion passenger.
