A man who suffered life-threatening injuries in a stabbing in Kawerau on Friday night is now in a stable condition in hospital.
Police say the man's lung was punctured and his heart nicked in the attack at a house in the Bay of Plenty town.
Senior Sergeant Karl Konlechner said the man's condition had improved this morning following surgery.
He said a woman had been charged with wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm and had been remanded in custody.
