1:58 pm on 17 November 2015

The trial of the man charged with murdering two staff at Work and Income in Ashburton has been delayed.

Russell John Tully is charged with the murder of Peggy Noble and Leigh Cleveland and the attempted murder of their colleagues, Lindy Curtis and Kim Adams, in September last year.

The trial had been due to begin on Monday at the High Court in Christchurch but was delayed following a callover at court this morning.

Details of today's hearing has been suppressed but a new trial date is yet to be set.

Mr Tully also faces two firearms charges and one of setting a trap the police say was intended to injure people.
