Firefighters have put out a scrub fire on Mt Victoria in the Auckland suburb of Devonport.

Fire Service shift commander Paul Raddon said an area measuring about 50m by 80m caught fire today.
Four fire engines and 16 firefighters worked to put it out.

The Fire Service said no homes were under threat.

He said the first call about the fire came in shortly before midday but people were still calling 111 two hours later because the smoke could be seen from many parts of Auckland.
