The government has committed $12.3 million to major building work at two Wellington schools.
The announcement pushes the value of education building projects since October to more than $290m.
The government is facing a multi-billion-dollar bill for replacing old school buildings and ensuring there are enough classrooms to cope with roll growth.
Some schools have been unhappy with delays in decisions on their building work, but in the past two and a half months the government has announced a series of big projects.
The latest are at Newtown and Ngaio schools in Wellington.
Newtown students have been in prefabricated classrooms since its main block was demolished due to earthquake risk in 2011. The school will get an $8.9m replacement.
At Ngaio School, $3.4 million will be spent on five new learning areas.
Construction will start at the schools late next year.
