A seven-year-old boy has died in hospital two days after being found unresponsive in a thermal pool northwest of Auckland.

Police said the boy was found at the bottom of the water at Palm Springs Thermal Pool at Parakai just after 11am on Friday.
The child was visiting the pool with his family.
A Westpac rescue helicopter paramedic said at the time the child was in cardiac arrest when they arrived.
The boy was rescued and resuscitated following CPR, but died in Starship Hospital overnight.
Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the death.
