The man is described as being in his late 50's with grey and white "salt and pepper" hair and with facial stubble.

He is 5 feet 9 inches tall, of a slim build and caucasian.

Police said the man had a scruffy and unkempt look, and may have some teeth missing.

They are urging anyone who saw a man matching this description to contact them.

He was reportedly in the Shamrock Street area between 8am - 8.30am on Friday, and again in Hind Place later that morning, at approximately 11.00am.

Shekinah Tekira-Skipper was grabbed off the street as she walked to school with her sisters on Friday morning.

She was found a few hours later by a passer-by on the other side of the city and reunited with her family.

Police are also still seeking information about a white 1988-1995 model Nissan Maxima.

They said the vehicle has a very distinctive back end and people may remember having seen it.

"While this vehicle may not have been involved, we are keen to hear from anyone who saw it in the areas mentioned above or from the driver of the vehicle itself," the police said.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Palmerston North Police Station on 06 351 3600.

Information can also be provided anonymously via Crimestoppers 0800 555 111.
