A man has been charged with murder following the stabbing of a 17-year-old girl in Lower Hutt over the weekend.
The teenager was attacked in the suburb of Naenae on Sunday and later died in hospital.
The 39-year-old man was originally charged with wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm.
Today at the Hutt Valley District Court that charge was withdrawn and one of murder was entered.
The man was remanded in custody to reappear in May. He has interim name suppression.
