A woman has died in a fatal crash that closed State Highway 2 in Upper Hutt, north of Wellington.
Police said the woman was a passenger in one of three cars involved in the crash, which happened on the corner of the highway and Whakatiki Street shortly after 6pm yesterday.
The Serious Crash Unit is investigating.
