Arrest over woman found injured by road

A 38-year-old man has been charged with kidnapping a woman who was found with critical injuries on the side of a road in Dome Valley.

A member of the public found the woman on Waiwhiu Conical Peak Road in Dome Valley, north of Auckland, at about 7am on Monday.

She remains in Auckland Hospital in a serious but stable condition.

Police said the man charged with her kidnapping will appear in the North Shore District Court today.

Police are not ruling out the possibility of further arrests.

Initially, police were unable to identify the woman and released a picture of her tattoo in the hope someone would recognise it.

On Tuesday, police announced they had identified the woman and said her family were at her bedside.
