Man survives 70m drop at Diamond Harbour

A man has suffered moderate to serious injuries after driving off a cliff in in Banks Peninsula.

The man plunged approximately 70 metres into Diamond Harbour about 1am on Wednesday.

An ambulance spokesman said a rescue helicopter was required to winch the man to safety.

He is now recovering in Christchurch Hospital.
