Pedestrian struck by bus in Wellington

A 16-year-old boy has been taken to hospital with serious head injuries after an accident involving a bus in central Wellington.

A Wellington Free Ambulance spokesperson says the accident happened about 8.15am on Tuesday on Lambton Quay, near the intersection with Bunny Street.

The spokesperson said the boy struck the side of the bus.

A spokesperson for NZ Bus, which operates the vehicle, says the driver has been temporarily stood down.
