Tramper rescued after suspected allergic reaction

Updated at 10:10 am on 21 March 2010

A woman had to be rescued from a hut in the Orongorongo Ranges, east of Wellington, on Sunday after having what is believed to be an allergic reaction to something she ate.

The Westpac Rescue Helicopter responded to the incident about 12.30am and managed to locate one of the tramping party who had made their way down to the stream with a torch.

A paramedic was able to walk up to the hut and assess the 28-year-old woman.

She was flown to Wellington Hospital where she is receiving treatment.
