The father of missing Gisborne four-year-old Lucas Ward believes he is still alive and somewhere on land.
The boy disappeared from his grandmother's home in Graham Road in the suburb of Kaiti about 3pm on Tuesday 17 August.
An active police search for him has been downgraded. However, officers are continuing their door-to-door inquiries on Monday distributing flyers and following up reported sightings of the boy.
Damon Ward is adamant his son will not be found dead, while one of the boy's grandmothers, Marie Atkins, says the family will continue looking for him as they have not exhausted every avenue.
