Police in the Far North are asking for information regarding a fatal hit and run.
A man, aged 45, was found beside State Highway 12 at about 8.45pm on Tuesday near the rural settlement of Whirinaki.
He had significant head injuries and died a short time later.
Police say his injuries were consistent with being hit by a car travelling towards Opononi.
