Vehicle info sought on Auckland bank robberies

Police in Auckland are calling for sightings of vehicles used in two separate bank robberies within 24 hours.

A pair of Armourguard security officers were confronted by two men, one of whom was armed, outside Sylvia Park's ANZ Bank just before 11am on Thursday.

The offenders threatened the officers and demanded money before escaping in a blue Mazda, which was found abandoned a short time later at the Countdown carpark in Mt Wellington.

A police spokesperson says they were last seen getting into a silver BMW with the registration number EGZ 366.

It follows an armed hold-up of the National Bank in Panmure on Wednesday afternoon in which a stolen silver Mazda Familia hatchback was used as a getaway vehicle.

Witnesses of either incident should contact Glen Innes police.
