Pay up before we meet, firm tells Transport Agency

9:35 pm on 10 November 2010

An Auckland company at the centre of an eviction dispute with the Transport Agency wants it to pay its legal fees before it will agree to a meeting.

Wire manufacturer Faulkner Collins occupies a property owned by the agency in the path of the Waterview motorway extension.

The Transport Agency says it is owed rent by Faulkner Collins, which in turn says it needs better compensation for moving.

Faulkner Collins missed a deadline on Tuesday for rent arrears and is supposed to meet the agency.

But chief executive Hadley Wright says he will only meet if the agency pays its legal fees and sends a representative with decision-making powers.

The agency says it wants a solution satisfactory to both sides.
