Two earthquakes have occurred in the Gisborne region.
The first, at 1.04am on Friday, was magnitude 5.5. It was located 160km north-east of Ruatoria, at a depth of 70km.
The second was magnitude 4.2 at 5.31am. It was 10km north-east of Gisborne, at a depth of 30km.
