A passenger has been winched off the interisland ferry Aretere and flown to Wellington hospital for treatment.
The West Coast man became unwell on a crossing on Friday afternoon and a paramedic was put onto the ship as it sailed through Queen Charlotte Sound.
Both were winched off the ferry and flown to Wellington hospital.
