Arrest in stabbing case

Police in Nelson have arrested a man following a stabbing in Richmond on Sunday.

A man on crutches was repeatedly stabbed outside the Richmond police station at 12.30am.

He was treated at Nelson hospital and discharged.

A Richmond man, 28, has been charged with wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm.

Detective Pat Nally says police have spoken to the three people they believe were present during the attack and are not seeking anyone else.

The man will appear in the Nelson District Court on Wednesday.
