Streets flooded in parts of Christchurch

9:29 pm on 16 May 2011

The Christchurch City Council says a high tide has caused flooding on streets in some parts of the city.

The tide affected the lower Avon and Heathcote rivers, leading to flooding on parts of New Brighton Road, Avonside Drive, Hulverstone Drive, Clarendon Terrace and Richardson Terrace just before 5.30pm on Monday.

A spokesperson for the council says the flooding quickly subsided and there have been no reports of damage to property.

The council says it may issue another flood warning on Tuesday as another high tide is expected.
