Terms of reference for Queenstown health panel

4:57 pm on 11 June 2011

The terms of reference have been announced for the panel that will consider options for integrating primary and secondary healthcare in the Wakatipu district.

The Southern District Health Board called in the National Heath Board (NHB) - a business unit within the Ministry of Health - to oversee the move to an integrated health care model for the region after public concerns about the way the DHB was proceeding.

The NHB has set up a panel comprising the immediate past Chair of the NZ Medical Association, Dr Peter Foley, the former head of Consumer New Zealand David Russell, and physician Angela Pitchford.

The panel will hold community meetings in Queenstown to seek consensus and make recommendations on the future structure for healthcare in the Queenstown area.
