Second dead diver found

2:19 pm on 17 July 2011

The name of the second diver who died in Lake Pupuke on Auckland's North Shore, has been released.

He was Daniel Stoneham, 33, from South Auckland.

His body was found at about 9am on Sunday. It has been taken to the mortuary, where a post-mortem will be held on Monday.

It was located about 53 metres deep, 100 metres offshore near Killarney Park.

Mr Stoneham was one of two divers who did not surface during a training exercise on Friday afternoon.

The body of the other diver, Tyrone North, 37, from South Auckland was found shortly after the pair failed to resurface.

Police and the Department of Labour are investigating.

Dive classes cancelled

Both men were nearing the end of their dive courses through Helix Training.

The diving company has cancelled all its classes for the week.

General manager Sharon Sutherland says they are shocked by the tragedy, and are trying to support the men's families.

She says the company is also helping police with their inquiries.
