Police patrol car stolen

Updated at 10:00 am on 24 July 2011

A police patrol car was stolen by a woman in west Auckland on Saturday while officers were in the process of arresting someone else.

The incident happened just before 5pm.

POlice say two officers were busy arresting an aggressive and violent offender, when an associate from the same address made off in their patrol vehicle.

She drove it for about 1km before crashing into another car. No one was hurt.

A woman is to appear in Waitakere District Court in relation to the incident.
