Police have released the name of a man who died on Friday evening following a skiing accident on Mount Ruapehu earlier in the day.
He was Abraham Klaarenbeek, 38, a Dutch national living in Paeroa.
Mr Klaarenbeek died in Waikato hospital.
Police say it appears he skiied over the brow of a hill on the Whakapapa field and went under a T-bar before colliding with a pole and ladder.
