Public transport services

7:03 am on 17 August 2011

Wellington Regional Council says bus services in the hill suburbs are likely to be affected on Wednesday morning due to the weather.

WRC says it is safe to assume that if buses were not running parts of or whole routes on Tuesday, it will be a similar situation on Wednesday morning.

Valley Flyer bus routes to Wainuiomata and Western Hills were cancelled on Tuesday night, with most other routes in the Hutt Valley going no further north than Belmont Hills.

Metlink operators will not review bus routes until 7.30am.

So far, train services in Wellington have not been affected.

In Canterbury, all metro public transport services were cancelled on Tuesday due to snow and ice on roads.

Civil Defence says weather conditions there should improve on Wednesday and bus services will be reviewed in the morning.
