Students at Otago University say they are happy with a plan to turn a well known student pub into a study centre.
Last year students rushed to defend the Garden Tavern, known as the Gardies, after it was sold to the university for redevelopment.
A rally of more 1000 students was planning at the pub on its last day but it was closed a day early and only about 100 people turned up.
University of Otago Students Association president Logan Edgar, says it's sad to see the pub go, but a new study centre will be a welcome replacement.
