Nominations open for Christchurch by-election

Updated at 2:41 pm on 24 November 2011

Nominations opened on Thursday for a Christchurch City Council by-election to replace a councillor in the Burwood/Pegasus ward.

The council position became vacant in September when Chrissie Williams resigned, citing a dysfunctional relationship between staff and councillors and a lack of leadership from the mayor.

Potential candidates have until 22 December to get their nominations in.

Voting will take place in the three weeks between 18 January and 10 February 2012.
