Police examine Linwood house in search for teenager

Police in Christchurch investigating the disappearance of a teenager will spend at least three days examining a house where he was last seen.

Hayden Miles, 16, has not been in contact with his family since 22 August.

Police say ESR scientists are forensically examining a house in the suburb of Linwood, trying to find any sign of the missing teenager.

They say he spoke to his mother on the phone the night he went missing, distressed that he had been mugged.

Detective Senior Sergeant Tony Hill says officers believe the teenager then went to a property in Linwood.

"Our enquiries so far indicate that some sort of incident has occurred at this address and we are now focussing on the location to get a better picture of what has happened," he says.

Mr Hill says he will not speculate on what that may be, although he says there are mixed reports Haydon Mills may have been injured.

He says someone holds the key to the investigation and anyone with information must come forward.

The teenager's mother and aunt made public pleas on 22 November for any information regarding his whereabouts and police say they have received several calls with information since then.
