Nelson City Council says people whose homes have been red or yellow stickered following December's severe flooding can now apply for urgent access to their homes.
About 120 homes in Nelson were deemed to be unsafe for occupancy due to safety concerns in the wake of the floods.
Council Recovery Manager Michael Schruer says, from Wednesday 4 January, those homeowners can make an appointment with the council to access their houses.
He says only access for urgent matters will be approved.
The council says homeowners must engage a geotechnical engineer to oversee property repairs and an application must be made to the authority before any work is done.
