Karori woman search halted

Police have suspended a search for a 74-year-old Wellington woman, who has been missing for four days.

Edna Mae Cairns, 74, who is known as Mae, was last seen at her Standen Street home in Karori on Monday evening. It is believed she has been missing since Tuesday morning..

A team of 40 people, including community volunteers, have been searching for her.

Police have tonight put the search on hold while they wait to get further information.

Meanwhile, police say an elderly woman's body was found on the rocks at Wellington's Scorching Bay this afternoon.

A formal identification and post-mortem will be completed Friday morning.
