Man accused of RNZ murder remains in custody

7:16 pm on 15 February 2012

The older of two men accused of murdering a Radio New Zealand journalist has been further remanded in custody until March.

Nicho Waipuka, 19, made a brief appearance in Wellington District Court on Wednesday morning.

Lawyer Paul Paino told the court that an address submitted as part of an electronic bail application was unsuitable, as the monitoring equipment would not work there.

Judge Denys Barry remanded Mr Waipuka in custody to appear for another bail hearing in March.

Phillip Cottrell, 43, was beaten in the street after leaving work about 5.30am on 10 December last year. He died in Wellington Hospital the following day.
