Two children critically injured in a crash in Waikato were not in approved car seats, police say.
Two four-wheel drive vehicles collided on State Highway 27 near Patetonga, northwest of Morrinsville, at about 5.40am on Monday.
Police say two children suffered critical injuries and three adults suffered moderate injuries.
They say the children were not in approved car seats and it is inexcusable for the driver to not take the correct safety precautions.
The injured were been airlifted to hospital.
